NaPoWriMo day 16
I wish I had words for this feeling
of beautiful country calm,
an afternoon with friends
who you can just be with
Doors open to summer,
children and teens and adults flying
around on a trampoline
kiddos eager to snuggle with me
on the couch while I read.
Warm sunshine, warmer smiles
laughing over laundry and shrimp
and the kids dash out the door
nearly tripping over one another
to search for eggs hidden in tall grass.
Southern as sweet tea,
that famous hospitality.
Truer than the ruler’s marks,
we rest in knowing each other’s hearts.
I marvel, because
isn’t this just what Jesus died to give?
a conglomeration of families
who in truth and hope
