Together live

NaPoWriMo day 16

I wish I had words for this feeling

of beautiful country calm,

an afternoon with friends

whole families

who you can just be with

Doors open to summer,

children and teens and adults flying

around on a trampoline

kiddos eager to snuggle with me

on the couch while I read.

Warm sunshine, warmer smiles

laughing over laundry and shrimp

and the kids dash out the door

nearly tripping over one another

to search for eggs hidden in tall grass.

Southern as sweet tea,

that famous hospitality.

Truer than the ruler’s marks,

we rest in knowing each other’s hearts.

I marvel, because

isn’t this just what Jesus died to give?

a conglomeration of families

who in truth and hope

together live?
